Fresh Air Friendship and Illinois Craft Brewers Guild: Illinois Beer is Better…Outdoors!

Whether its visiting Harbor Brewing after Illinois Beach State Park, Stopping in at Obscurity Bier Garden after a trip to Starved Rock, or some much needed time with friends on Church Street’s sprawling patio, we know that time outdoors and Illinois made beer go together very well.

We are excited to announce that Ilinois Craft Brewers Guild  has launched a new collaboration with Fresh Air Friendship to spotlight creative ideas for day trips, weekend getaways, and quick visits to fun Illinois landmarks and outdoor venues throughout the summer, each within reach of a local craft brewery. Because Illinois Beer is Better…Outdoors

The “Illinois Beer is Better” campaign encourages Illinoisans to explore the state’s collection of parks, hiking and biking trails, and other adventurous landmarks located near craft breweries, boosting taproom visits and spurring economic investment throughout the summer.

Illinois boasts more than 300 craft breweries, many of which are within walking distance of summer hot spots, ranging from renowned state parks and high-traffic biking trails to bustling lakes, scenic rivers, and adventurous locales. With breweries situated everywhere from working cattle farms downstate to the edges of the Chain O’ Lakes in Northern Illinois, there is no shortage of ways to explore the state while supporting local, independently owned craft breweries, which remain in a period of recovery following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Supporting local breweries is just our way of making sure our adventures create economic impact and strengthen the communities we visit. We’re excited for a fun couple months ahead!
